Elizabeth Lyons

Elizabeth A. Lyons is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota.  Her main areas of practice include Landlord/Tenant, Conciliation Claims, and Family Law.  Other areas of practice include Real Property, Civil Claims, Adoptions, Veteran’s Legal Issues, and some Environmental Law.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Tulsa with dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Geoscience and German.  Elizabeth moved to Minnesota in 2003 and was a Registered Environmental Health Specialist for Anoka County.  She performed regulatory inspections at local businesses to determine and enforce their compliance with state environmental statutes.  Elizabeth remained with Anoka County through law school until joining Cornerstone Law.

Elizabeth received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from William Mitchell College of Law (now the Mitchell/Hamline School of Law) in May 2012.  While attending law school, Elizabeth assisted a client for two semesters through the William Mitchell Community Development which involved navigating land use and zoning regulations.  She also acted as a Legal Research Assistant through an independent clinic to Simon Canick (Associate Dean, Information Resources at William Mitchell) for two semesters.  Her externship was with the Hennepin County Examiner of Titles Office and consisted of researching and identifying real property title issues.  In the summer of 2010, Elizabeth was chosen to study Property Law for a semester at Oxford University in England through Santa Clara University’s study abroad program.  However, Elizabeth’s true passion during law school was assisting homeless clients with their legal issues through the Minneapolis and Saint Paul Project Homeless Connect events.

Elizabeth joined Cornerstone Law in September of 2014.  She is proud to be able to help veterans and lower-income clients today through her legal practice by assisting them with their unique legal problems.  She also volunteers with the Military Assistance Council for Veterans (MAC-V).  Elizabeth understands that her clients are experiencing life changing legal issues and she is passionate about helping them through each issue one step at a time so it isn’t overwhelming.

Outside her practice, Elizabeth can’t get enough of traveling to experience many different cultures and foods, and spending time with her friends and family.  She is also an avid baker and outdoorswoman.  Additionally, Elizabeth enjoys volunteering for builds at the Habitat for Humanity Minneapolis Panel Plant with J. Virgil Bradley and other law school friends.
