J. David Prince

Dave concentrates his practice on appellate advocacy.  He is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Minnesota, and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been Of Counsel at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi in Minneapolis where his practice focused on environmental law and at Larson • King in St. Paul where his practice focused on product safety and product liability prevention, mass tort and products liability litigation, appellate advocacy and alternative dispute resolution.

Dave taught law for 40 years. During his 37-year tenure at William Mitchell, he served as Vice-Dean, led the foreign studies program, taught many courses including Products Liability Law, Toxic Torts, Torts, Advanced Tort Law, Lawyers & Leadership, Administrative Law, American Legal History, Comparative Judicial Administration, Energy Law, Environmental Regulation, Natural Resources Management, and Public Control of Land Use, and has published numerous books and articles.

Dave is a member of the American Law Institute, Defense Research Institute, American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, and the University of Minnesota-Fairview Hospital Institutional Review Board. He has been a qualified mediator, a part-time administrative law judge, and co-editor of a products liability law on-line blog. He has served on a variety of community boards including the Minnesota State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Board of Directors, the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota Board of Directors, the North Star Opera Board, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s Environmental Justice Advisory Task Force, the Voyaguer’s National Park Association Board of Directors, and the Iowa State University Parents’ Association Board of Directors.
